How it works
Set up a Zap that listens for new mentions discovered by MentionFox's Social Listening module. When a conversation matches your keywords or audience filters, Zapier can immediately pull enriched lead data from MentionFox's lead enrichment capability, format it, and send it to your CRM, spreadsheet, or email. This eliminates the delay between discovery and action, ensuring your sales team engages prospects while the conversation is still fresh.
MentionFox's Investor Research module identifies funding announcements, acquisition rumors, and investor activity across your target market. Use Zapier to automatically log these signals—along with enriched investor profiles from MentionFox's 52,000-investor database—into Airtable, Notion, or your deal pipeline. Each Zap can filter by investor stage, geography, or industry, so your investment team only sees relevant opportunities without manual sorting.
MentionFox's Outreach Automation module prepares personalized campaigns, but never sends them automatically. Instead, use Zapier to bundle drafted outreach into a summary that your team reviews in Slack, email, or a task manager. Once you click to send from MentionFox itself, Zapier can then log the sent message into your CRM or engagement database for compliance and follow-up tracking. This workflow preserves your control while automating the legwork.
What you can do
Seed-Stage Startup Monitoring Competitor Product Launches
A founder uses MentionFox to listen for when competitors announce new features on Twitter, Product Hunt, and LinkedIn. Zapier detects these mentions and automatically creates a task in Asana with a summary of the announcement, competitor sentiment, and a link to the original post. The team can then review the landscape weekly without manually checking each platform. Every mention also gets tagged by industry and competitor, so the founder can spot patterns—e.g., 'three competitors added AI-powered search this month'—and adjust roadmap priorities accordingly.
B2B SaaS Sales Team Qualifying Warm Leads from Community Forums
A sales manager configures MentionFox to monitor HackerNews, indie hacker forums, and Slack communities where product managers discuss their pain points. When someone mentions a problem MentionFox solves, Zapier enriches the person's profile (company, job title, LinkedIn URL) and creates a contact card in Salesforce. The sales rep then has context—'This CTO asked about social listening last Tuesday in HackerNews'—before reaching out, dramatically improving reply rates and deal quality. The rep still previews and clicks send on the outreach email to maintain brand safety.
Venture Capital Firm Tracking AI Vendor Consolidation
A venture fund uses MentionFox to monitor 52+ sources for mentions of emerging AI companies, partnership announcements, and acquisition rumors. MentionFox's Investor Research module surfaces funding rounds and investor moves; Zapier pipes these into a Notion database indexed by founder, stage, and geography. The investment team gets a daily digest in Slack of high-confidence signals (scored by MentionFox's AI-Visibility module), turning unstructured chatter into a structured deal pipeline. When a promising signal appears, Zapier can also trigger a research task reminder so the team digs deeper.
How to connect
- Step 1: Connect MentionFox to Zapier. Log into your Zapier account and search for MentionFox. Click the MentionFox app tile and select 'Connect.' You'll be prompted to authorize Zapier to access your MentionFox account. Enter your MentionFox login credentials and grant permission for Zapier to read mentions, enrichment data, and outreach records. Once authenticated, Zapier will display your MentionFox workspace and available triggers (e.g., 'New Mention Found,' 'New Lead Enriched,' 'Investor Signal Detected').
- Step 2: Create a Trigger (What Starts the Zap). In your Zap editor, choose your trigger from MentionFox—for example, 'New Mention in Social Listening' with filters like keywords, platforms, sentiment, or audience. Zapier will test the trigger by fetching a sample mention from your MentionFox account. Review the data structure: mention text, author, platform, timestamp, and any enriched fields like company or job title. If the sample looks correct, save the trigger. You can refine filters (e.g., only mentions from tech founders, only high confidence) to avoid Zap noise.
- Step 3: Set Up Actions (What Happens Next). After your trigger, add one or more actions. Common actions include: Create a Contact in Salesforce, Add Row to Google Sheets, Send Slack Message, Create Task in Asana, or Send Email to your team. For each action, map MentionFox data fields to the target app. For example, map MentionFox's 'enriched_company' field to Salesforce's 'Company' field. Zapier supports conditional logic, so you can route high-intent leads to Salesforce while lower-intent mentions go to a spreadsheet for batch review. Test the action with sample data before publishing.
- Step 4: Publish and Monitor Your Zap. Once your trigger and actions are configured and tested, toggle your Zap to 'On.' Zapier will begin listening for mentions matching your trigger criteria. Visit your Zap's History tab to confirm data is flowing correctly—you'll see each trigger event and whether actions succeeded or failed. If a Zap fails (e.g., Salesforce rejects a contact because of a duplicate), Zapier will alert you and let you retry. Adjust your trigger filters or action mappings as needed, then re-run failed tasks. Monitor your Zap weekly to ensure it's delivering value; adjust filters if you're getting too many or too few events.
Without MentionFox
Without MentionFox, teams manually monitor 52+ platforms separately—scrolling Reddit, Twitter, LinkedIn, Quora, HackerNews, and forums by hand, copying prospect names into spreadsheets, and re-enriching data from multiple sources. This workflow is slow, error-prone, and leaves leads and investor signals cold by the time they're actioned. Zapier alone can automate the *delivery* of data, but without MentionFox's cross-platform listening, lead enrichment, and AI-visibility scoring, there's no structured signal to automate in the first place.
