How it works
When you identify a prospect mention, lead signal, or investor conversation in MentionFox, the platform tags that event with metadata including platform source, sentiment, URL, and the user who initiated action. MentionFox structures this data and prepares it as an event payload ready for transmission to external systems.
MentionFox sends the event payload to a Segment webhook endpoint you configure. Segment receives the incoming event, parses the MentionFox source, and maps it into your Segment workspace. This happens in real-time as you interact with leads and intelligence within MentionFox.
Once events land in Segment, you route them to your CRM, data warehouse, analytics tool, or marketing automation platform. Your team now has MentionFox signals (prospect mentions, conversation context, outreach actions) available in your existing workflows without manual data entry or spreadsheet exports.
What you can do
Sales Intelligence Enrichment
Your sales team discovers a prospect mentioning your product category on Reddit via MentionFox. Instead of manually copying the mention into Salesforce, the signal flows automatically through Segment to your CRM. The prospect record is tagged with the platform source, conversation URL, and MentionFox data so your sales rep has full context before outreach.
Investor Due Diligence Tracking
MentionFox's investor research module identifies a target VC fund discussing your market niche across multiple platforms. When you flag or save that conversation, MentionFox sends the event to Segment, which routes it to your analytics warehouse. Your team builds reports on which investors are actively discussing your space, informing GTM prioritization.
Outreach Performance Attribution
You preview and click-to-send an outreach email from MentionFox to a prospect. MentionFox logs that send action as an event to Segment. Your marketing automation platform receives the signal and ties it to the prospect record, enabling you to measure reply rate, deal stage progression, and revenue impact by MentionFox-sourced leads.
How to connect
- Step 1: Generate a Segment Webhook URL. Log in to Segment. Navigate to Sources, select Webhooks (or create a custom webhook source), and copy the webhook URL provided. This URL is the destination where MentionFox will send events. Keep this URL secure and accessible.
- Step 2: Configure the Webhook in MentionFox Settings. Open MentionFox and go to Settings or Integrations. Paste the Segment webhook URL into the outbound webhook configuration field. You may optionally map MentionFox event fields (prospect name, mention platform, conversation URL, outreach action) to match your Segment event schema, ensuring clean downstream consumption.
- Step 3: Test the Connection. In MentionFox, trigger a test event (for example, flag a prospect mention or save an investor conversation). Monitor your Segment debugger or logs to confirm the event arrives with the correct payload structure. Adjust field mappings if needed.
- Step 4: Connect Segment Destinations. In Segment, configure downstream destinations (your CRM, warehouse, analytics tool, or marketing automation platform) to receive MentionFox events. Map Segment properties to destination fields. Once live, all MentionFox events will flow automatically to every connected destination, eliminating manual syncs.
Without MentionFox
Without MentionFox integrated to Segment, your team manually exports prospect mentions and conversation data from disparate platforms, copy-pastes them into spreadsheets or CRM fields, and struggles to maintain a single source of truth. This process is error-prone, slow, and delays your sales and research workflows by hours or days.
