How it works
MentionFox monitors your target keywords, competitors, and industry conversations in real time. The Social Listening module aggregates mentions, discussions, and engagement signals from Reddit, LinkedIn, X, Quora, HackerNews, industry forums, news publications, podcasts, review platforms, and social video channels. You configure listening rules based on your ideal customer profile—job titles, company size, industry verticals, product mentions, or pain-point keywords. MentionFox surfaces individual conversations where prospects are actively discussing problems your product solves. You review these mentions with full context: source URL, author profile, engagement metrics, and timestamp. The platform never auto-sends outreach; every email requires your manual preview and explicit click-to-send approval before delivery. This human-in-the-loop design ensures only genuine, personalized engagement reaches your prospects.
Once you identify a prospect from social conversations, MentionFox's lead enrichment capabilities pull additional intelligence. The AI-Visibility (GEO) Measurement module tracks visibility and credibility signals across multiple large language models—AI assistants (AI assistants), AI assistants (AI assistants 4), AI assistants, AI assistants, AI assistants, and AI assistants—giving you insight into how widely a prospect's expertise or company is recognized in AI-driven search results and knowledge systems. For investor-focused prospecting, MentionFox maintains a database of 52,000 investor profiles, enabling you to research funding patterns, portfolio company overlap, and investment thesis alignment. The Candidate Vetting module supports technical recruiting by assessing professional background, GitHub activity, and community reputation across technical platforms. All enrichment data is structured and ready for CRM integration.
MentionFox connects to Salesforce via API, allowing you to sync enriched leads and account records directly into your CRM. Each synced record includes the prospect name, company, source platform, conversation context, and enrichment signals (visibility score, investor classification, or technical credentials). Your sales team opens Salesforce and immediately sees the social listening context attached to each lead—no context switching required. From there, your team can trigger Salesforce workflows: auto-assign leads to account executives, create tasks for follow-up, or populate custom fields with MentionFox intelligence. The Outreach Automation module lets you compose personalized email sequences that reference the exact social conversation that triggered the lead discovery, significantly increasing open and response rates compared to cold outreach.
What you can do
B2B SaaS Sales: Identify In-Market Prospects
Your product is HR software for remote teams. MentionFox listens for conversations on Reddit's r/startups, LinkedIn, Quora, and industry forums where founders and HR leads discuss "distributed team challenges," "remote hiring compliance," or "employee onboarding at scale." When Sarah, a VP of People at a 50-person startup, posts a question about streamlining remote onboarding on Quora, MentionFox captures the post with her name, company, and profile link. You review the mention in MentionFox, verify it's a genuine fit, and click to send her a personalized email referencing her specific challenge. The lead syncs to Salesforce as a high-intent opportunity. Your account executive follows up with a product demo, and within three weeks, your company closes a $15,000 annual deal. Without MentionFox, Sarah would have remained invisible in your cold outreach campaigns.
Venture Capital: Monitor Portfolio Company Narratives & Competitive Positioning
You manage a $50M venture fund focused on fintech. MentionFox's Investor Research module tracks 52,000 investor profiles and cross-references them with your portfolio companies. You monitor conversations where portfolio companies are mentioned alongside competitors, allowing you to identify narrative shifts, customer sentiment, and emerging threats in real time. You also listen for founders in your target thesis space (embedded payments, B2B lending) discussing pain points on HackerNews, podcast episodes, and specialized fintech forums. When you identify a pre-seed founder building in your sweet spot, MentionFox enriches their profile with visibility metrics across AI search—showing whether they have meaningful technical credibility—and you reach out with a warm introduction and term sheet. The Salesforce integration logs all investor interactions and deal signals, creating a complete deal history for your CRM.
Technical Recruiting: Source Passive Engineering Talent
Your tech recruitment firm places senior backend engineers. MentionFox monitors HackerNews, GitHub discussions, technical forums, podcast episodes, and Substack publications where engineers share technical opinions, projects, and career thoughts. When a software engineer named Jordan posts a detailed technical breakdown of microservices architecture on HackerNews, then appears in a podcast discussing remote work preferences, MentionFox flags both mentions and aggregates Jordan's credibility signals. The Candidate Vetting module assesses Jordan's GitHub contributions, open-source projects, and community reputation. You review Jordan's profile in MentionFox, see strong alignment with a client's needs, and send a personalized outreach email. The candidate record syncs to Salesforce, your recruiting team schedules an interview, and two weeks later, you place Jordan in a $180K role. Your ability to identify and engage passive talent before competitors matters—MentionFox gives you that speed.
How to connect
- Step 1: Generate and Authenticate Your API Credentials. Log into your MentionFox account and navigate to Settings > API & Integrations. Generate a new API key and secret token. These credentials authenticate requests between MentionFox and Salesforce. Store them securely—never commit them to version control. Copy your MentionFox workspace ID from the same settings page; you'll need this when configuring the Salesforce connector.
- Step 2: Install and Configure the Salesforce Connector. In Salesforce, navigate to Setup > Integrations > Third-Party Apps and search for MentionFox. Follow Salesforce's standard OAuth flow to authorize MentionFox access to your Salesforce org. When prompted, paste your MentionFox API key and secret token. You'll then map MentionFox fields to Salesforce objects: choose whether you want to sync leads, contacts, or accounts. Configure field mappings (e.g., MentionFox prospect name → Salesforce Lead Name, MentionFox company → Salesforce Account Name, MentionFox platform source → Salesforce custom field). Save your configuration.
- Step 3: Define Sync Rules and Data Flow. Decide which leads MentionFox should automatically push to Salesforce. You might sync all leads, or only those matching certain criteria (e.g., only prospects from your top target companies, or only high-confidence enrichment matches). Set sync frequency: real-time, hourly, or daily. Configure your lead routing logic in Salesforce: auto-assign synced leads to specific sales teams by geography, industry, or product line. Enable Salesforce workflow rules so that when a new MentionFox lead appears, a task is automatically created for an account executive and an internal Slack notification is sent.
- Step 4: Test and Monitor the Integration. Run a test sync by creating a sample lead in MentionFox and checking that it appears in Salesforce within your configured sync window. Verify that all mapped fields (name, company, source platform, enrichment scores) populated correctly. Check that auto-assignment and workflow triggers executed as expected. Once verified, monitor the integration weekly for the first month to ensure data quality, sync reliability, and team adoption. Track metrics: number of synced leads, conversion rate, and average sales cycle length for MentionFox-sourced leads vs. traditional outbound lists. Adjust field mappings or sync rules based on what your sales team finds most useful.
Without MentionFox
Without MentionFox, your sales team relies on broad cold outreach lists, industry databases, and manual LinkedIn searches—tools that scale to many prospects but rarely capture the moment when a prospect is actively discussing a problem your product solves. You miss high-intent signals, fail to personalize at scale, and compete on message rather than relevance. Your CRM fills with low-quality leads, your sales team spends time disqualifying tire-kickers, and your conversion rates stagnate. MentionFox shifts that dynamic by giving you visibility into real conversations happening right now across 52+ platforms, then delivering those insights directly into Salesforce so your team can act with perfect timing and perfect context.
