How it works
Use MentionFox's social listening module to monitor mentions of your brand, competitors, and industry keywords across 52+ platforms. When MentionFox detects a high-intent mention—such as a prospect asking about your solution category or discussing relevant pain points—you can export that signal. By sending this event to Mixpanel via API, you create a timestamped record of when and where intent was detected, enabling you to correlate social signals with downstream product interactions.
MentionFox's lead enrichment capabilities append company, role, and intent data to prospects. As you import enriched profiles into your system, push corresponding events to Mixpanel—such as 'lead_enriched' or 'intent_score_high'. This allows you to build behavioral cohorts in Mixpanel based on how prospects were first identified (e.g., from which platform, with which intent category), then track their onboarding velocity and feature adoption rates separately from cold audiences.
MentionFox's outreach automation sends personalized emails—but critically, every email requires user preview and click-to-send; MentionFox never auto-sends. When you send an outreach campaign through MentionFox, log each 'outreach_sent' event to Mixpanel with the prospect's MentionFox lead ID and enrichment tags. Then track downstream events—email opens, link clicks, product signup, first login—within Mixpanel to calculate the true ROI of MentionFox-sourced outreach versus other lead sources.
What you can do
B2B SaaS Tracking Campaign Performance
A SaaS company uses MentionFox to listen for startups discussing problems their platform solves. When a mention is detected with high intent (e.g., 'We need better X integration'), the team exports that lead from MentionFox and pushes a 'prospect_detected_intent_signal' event to Mixpanel tagged with platform source (Reddit, Quora, LinkedIn), intent category, and company name. After sending a personalized outreach email through MentionFox, they log 'outreach_sent' to Mixpanel. Within Mixpanel, they build a funnel showing: prospect_detected → outreach_sent → email_opened → signup → paid_conversion. This reveals which platforms and intent categories generate the highest-quality leads.
Investor Due Diligence and Market Monitoring
A growth-stage company uses MentionFox's investor research module to monitor news, LinkedIn discussions, and podcasts about their market segment and potential acquirers. MentionFox surfaces new investor activity and market trend signals. Each research finding can be logged to Mixpanel as a 'market_signal_detected' event with tags for signal type, investor profile, and relevance score. Over time, Mixpanel cohorts reveal whether weeks with high investor activity correlate with spikes in inbound demo requests or investor inquiry volume—helping the team understand whether broader market momentum influences their own sales pipeline.
AI Visibility and Competitive Intelligence
A company uses MentionFox's AI-Visibility (GEO) measurement to monitor how often their product is recommended alongside competitors or AI models (AI assistants, AI assistants, AI assistants, AI assistants, AI assistants, AI assistants) across social channels. Each weekly measurement result—showing visibility percentage and recommendation rate—is pushed to Mixpanel as a 'competitive_visibility_score' event. Mixpanel then correlates these external visibility metrics with internal product events: when visibility spikes, do more new users sign up? Do free-to-paid conversion rates improve? This reveals whether improved social visibility precedes product demand.
How to connect
- 1. Generate MentionFox API Credentials. Log into your MentionFox account and navigate to Settings → API & Integrations. Generate a new API key and note your MentionFox workspace ID. Keep this credential secure; you will use it to authenticate requests that export events from MentionFox.
- 2. Obtain Mixpanel Project Token. In Mixpanel, go to Project Settings → Access Keys and copy your Project Token (found under 'Token'). This token identifies which Mixpanel project will receive your MentionFox events. Ensure your Mixpanel plan supports custom events via API (track events via API).
- 3. Set Up Event Mapping and Routing. Define which MentionFox actions generate events in Mixpanel. Common mappings: when MentionFox detects a mention, send 'social_mention_detected' to Mixpanel; when a prospect is enriched, send 'lead_enriched'; when outreach is sent, send 'outreach_sent'. You can build this routing via a webhook, a zapier/make.com integration, or a custom backend script that calls Mixpanel's Track API endpoint: POST https://api.mixpanel.com/track with payload containing event name, distinct_id (prospect or user identifier), timestamp, and custom properties (platform source, intent score, company, etc.).
- 4. Test and Monitor Data Flow. Send a test mention or enrichment event from MentionFox to Mixpanel. Check Mixpanel's Events page to confirm the event arrived with correct properties and timestamps. Set up alerts in Mixpanel to flag any drop in expected daily event volume. Once validation is complete, activate your full event stream and begin analyzing correlations between MentionFox intelligence signals and product user behavior.
Without MentionFox
Without MentionFox, teams manually search Reddit, Twitter, LinkedIn, and forums to identify prospects expressing intent—a time-consuming, inconsistent process prone to missed signals. You lose the ability to correlate real-time social conversation velocity with your product's user acquisition trends, making it impossible to measure whether external visibility truly drives revenue or merely reflects coincidental timing.
