MentionFox + Help Scout

Use MentionFox with Help Scout

MentionFox is a B2B intelligence suite that monitors mentions across 52+ platforms (Reddit, X, LinkedIn, Quora, HackerNews, forums, news sites, podcasts, review platforms, TikTok, YouTube, Substack, Medium, and more) to surface qualified leads, conduct investor research, and vet candidates. Help Scout is a customer communication platform that centralizes email, chat, and messaging. By connecting MentionFox to Help Scout via API, you can automatically create Help Scout conversations from detected mentions and outreach opportunities, streamlining lead capture and customer communication workflows without manual data entry.

How it works

1
Monitor Mentions and Create Help Scout Conversations

Set up MentionFox to listen for brand mentions, competitor activity, or industry keywords across its 52+ platform network. When a relevant mention is detected, MentionFox enriches the data with context and lead information. You then preview the mention and click to send an outreach message through MentionFox's Outreach Automation module. Using the Help Scout API connection, MentionFox creates a new Help Scout conversation with the prospect or mention source, automatically logging the initial context so your team sees the full history of why this person was contacted.

2
Centralize Investor Research and Due Diligence

Use MentionFox's Investor Research module to identify and vet potential investors, partners, or acquisition targets from its 52,000-person investor database. Enrich profiles with AI-Visibility (GEO) Measurement data showing which AI models investors mention or prefer. Create a Help Scout conversation for each target investor, auto-populating their background, funding history, and engagement signals. Your team collaborates in Help Scout while MentionFox continuously monitors the investor's public mentions, updating context as new signals arrive.

3
Vet Candidates and Build Team Context

Leverage MentionFox's Candidate Vetting module to scan social mentions, forum participation, and public statements from job prospects. MentionFox surfaces red flags, speaking topics, community contributions, and technical expertise indicators. Each vetted candidate generates a Help Scout conversation that captures the full dossier—mentions, sentiment, expertise areas, and risk assessments—giving your hiring team a shared, organized view of why you're interested and what public signals support the hire.

What you can do

SaaS Startup Capturing High-Intent Leads from Reddit and HackerNews

A developer tools company monitors HackerNews and Reddit for engineers discussing pain points in their category. MentionFox detects a thread where three engineers express frustration with current solutions. The mention includes a profile link and company affiliation (enriched via MentionFox). You review the mention, click to send a personalized outreach in MentionFox (no auto-send—you control every message), and the Help Scout API automatically creates a conversation thread with the prospect's context, their mention, and your outreach logged together. Your sales team replies in Help Scout, and the entire conversation stays organized in one place.

VC Firm Running Systematic Investor Diligence

A venture capital firm uses MentionFox's Investor Research module to vet 200 potential limited partners and co-investors. For each target, MentionFox pulls their 52,000-person investor database record, monitors their recent podcast appearances and LinkedIn discussions, measures their AI-visibility (GEO) engagement with AI assistants, AI assistants, AI assistants, and other models, and flags emerging portfolio themes. Help Scout conversations are created for each investor, embedding their research profile, recent mentions, and AI model preferences. The partnership team works in Help Scout to track outreach, meeting notes, and relationship building—all tied to MentionFox's continuous intelligence.

Recruitment Agency Vetting Executive Candidates

A retained search firm uses MentionFox's Candidate Vetting module to evaluate C-level candidates for a CFO search. MentionFox scans the candidate's public statements, forum posts, speaking engagements, LinkedIn presence, and industry mentions across 52+ platforms. The system surfaces their expertise in financial transformation, any public controversies, board roles, and community standing. A Help Scout conversation is created for each candidate with their full vetting report embedded. Recruiters collaborate in Help Scout to share assessments, track client feedback, and manage candidate communication—with MentionFox's ongoing mention monitoring flagging new public achievements or risks in real time.

How to connect

  1. Authenticate MentionFox to Your Help Scout Workspace. Log into your MentionFox account and navigate to Settings > Integrations. Select Help Scout and click Connect. You will be prompted to authorize MentionFox to access your Help Scout workspace via API. This requires a Help Scout API key, which you can generate in Help Scout's Integrations or Developer settings. Grant MentionFox permission to create conversations and add notes. Once authenticated, MentionFox can push data to Help Scout on your behalf (you remain in full control of when outreach is sent).
  2. Configure Your Listening and Outreach Rules. In MentionFox, define what mentions trigger a Help Scout conversation creation. Set up listeners for your brand name, competitor names, product category keywords, or industry themes across the 52+ platforms. For each listener, specify whether conversations should auto-create or require your manual approval. MentionFox's Outreach Automation module lets you draft templated responses, but every outreach email requires your explicit preview and click-to-send—MentionFox never auto-sends. Choose which mention metadata (source URL, platform, user profile, sentiment, enriched company data) should be included in the Help Scout conversation record.
  3. Review, Approve, and Send Outreach with Full Control. When MentionFox detects a matching mention, it surfaces it in your dashboard. You review the mention, any enriched lead data (e.g., company affiliation, investor profile, candidate background), and the recommended outreach message. You can edit the message, add personal context, or skip outreach entirely. When you click Send, MentionFox executes the outreach and simultaneously creates a Help Scout conversation (if not already created) with the mention, your outreach, and the prospect's enriched profile all visible to your team.
  4. Collaborate in Help Scout and Track MentionFox Intelligence. Your team works in Help Scout to reply to prospects, track conversation status, and manage follow-ups. MentionFox continues monitoring the mention source (e.g., the Reddit user, LinkedIn profile, investor, or candidate) and updates the Help Scout conversation with new mentions, AI-visibility signals, or investor signals as they emerge. Notes in Help Scout provide context for why MentionFox flagged this lead, and the linked mention data ensures your team has the evidence and enrichment behind every outreach.

Without MentionFox

Without MentionFox, your team must manually search across dozens of platforms (Reddit, LinkedIn, HackerNews, forums, podcasts, etc.) to find relevant mentions and leads. Enriching that data—verifying email addresses, confirming company affiliation, assessing investor backgrounds, or vetting candidate track records—requires hours of research per lead. Each lead then demands a separate entry into Help Scout, with no automated context or ongoing intelligence. You lose the ability to systematically monitor competitive chatter, investor sentiment, or candidate public behavior, and your Help Scout conversations lack the enriched context that helps your team understand why a lead matters.

Questions, answered

Does MentionFox auto-send emails to Help Scout contacts?

No. MentionFox never auto-sends outreach. Every email message requires you to preview it and explicitly click Send in MentionFox. Once you approve and send, the outreach is logged and Help Scout conversation is created. You maintain full control over every message.

Which platforms does MentionFox monitor?

MentionFox monitors 52+ platforms including Reddit, X, LinkedIn, Quora, HackerNews, forums, news sites, podcasts, review platforms, TikTok, YouTube, Substack, Medium, and more. This broad coverage ensures you don't miss mentions across fragmented communities where prospects and leads are active.

What is the investor database size in MentionFox?

MentionFox includes a database of 52,000 investors. This enables systematic research and vetting for VC, corporate venture, and partnership teams seeking to identify and evaluate potential partners, limited partners, or acquisition targets.

How do credits work, and what pricing plans are available?

MentionFox pricing tiers are: Free (10 credits/month), Pro ($99/month, 100 credits/month), Agency ($499/month, 1,000 credits/month, 5 seats), and Enterprise ($2,999/month, 5,000 credits/month, unlimited seats). Monthly credits reset each month and do not roll over; purchased credit packs roll over indefinitely. Each outreach, mention lookup, or enrichment query consumes credits. This design ensures you pay only for active usage while maintaining flexibility to scale.

Can MentionFox measure AI model visibility and adoption?

Yes. MentionFox's AI-Visibility (GEO) Measurement module tracks mentions of AI assistants (AI assistants), AI assistants (AI assistants 4), AI assistants, AI assistants, AI assistants, AI assistants, and other LLMs across its 52+ platform network. This helps product teams understand which AI models resonate with their audience and allows investor researchers to assess technology adoption trends among portfolio companies and prospects.
