How it works
MentionFox monitors Reddit, X, LinkedIn, Quora, HackerNews, forums, news sites, podcasts, review platforms, TikTok, YouTube, Substack, Medium, and 39 other sources in real time. When a prospect mentions your industry, product category, or problem space, MentionFox flags the conversation and extracts key context: their role, company, pain point, and engagement history. You review each mention in the MentionFox dashboard.
Once you identify a qualified prospect from MentionFox's discovery or enrichment modules, you initiate an API call to create or update a record in Attio. The sync includes prospect name, company, title, source platform, conversation URL, and custom fields for intent signals and engagement stage. Attio becomes your single source of truth for all inbound intelligence.
From Attio, your team crafts personalized emails referencing the prospect's specific mention or pain point. MentionFox's Outreach Automation module supports email composition and scheduling, but every outreach requires your explicit preview and click-to-send—MentionFox never auto-sends. Once sent, responses and engagement metrics flow back into Attio, creating a closed-loop record of each prospect's journey from discovery through conversion.
What you can do
Sales Development: Find Hidden Decision-Makers
Your sales development team uses MentionFox to monitor forums, Slack communities, and Reddit for IT directors discussing cloud infrastructure or compliance challenges. MentionFox's lead enrichment surfaces their company size, funding stage, and other signals. You sync these records into Attio, segment them by company and intent, and your outreach team sends personalized cold emails that reference their actual problem statement. Attio tracks open rates and replies, and your sales team moves hot prospects into the next stage.
Investor Research: Track Funding Rounds and LP Activity
MentionFox's Investor Research module accesses a 52,000-company database and monitors news, LinkedIn, Twitter, and investor announcements. You search for Series B SaaS companies in your target vertical, pull their recent funding announcements and decision-maker profiles, and sync the batch into Attio. Your partnership or investor relations team then reaches out with market research, partnership proposals, or demo invitations—all tracked in Attio's pipeline view.
Candidate Vetting: Enrich Applicant Intelligence Before Interviews
Your recruiting team uploads applicant email addresses or LinkedIn profiles to MentionFox's Candidate Vetting module. MentionFox scans 52+ platforms for public mentions, contributions, speaking history, and engagement patterns. Key signals (GitHub activity, community leadership, industry visibility) are synced into Attio as custom fields on each candidate record. Your hiring managers review this context before scheduling interviews, reducing bad-fit hires and improving cultural fit decisions.
How to connect
- Step 1: Authenticate MentionFox API in Attio. Log into Attio and navigate to the Integrations or Sync settings. Generate or retrieve your Attio API key. In MentionFox, go to Settings > Integrations > Attio, and paste your Attio API key and workspace URL. Test the connection to confirm both systems can communicate. Once authenticated, you're ready to push records.
- Step 2: Map MentionFox Fields to Attio Objects. Define how MentionFox data maps to your Attio CRM schema. Typically: MentionFox prospect name maps to Attio contact name; company maps to organization; source platform and mention URL map to custom fields; discovery date maps to created date. Configure any required custom fields in Attio first (e.g., 'Discovery Platform', 'Intent Signal', 'Mention URL'). Save your field mapping in the integration settings.
- Step 3: Trigger Syncs from MentionFox Dashboard or Bulk Export. In MentionFox, select discovered prospects or intelligence records and click 'Sync to Attio' or 'Export'. You can sync individual records as you review them, or batch-sync multiple records at the end of a research session. Attio receives the data and either creates new contact or organization records (if using smart matching) or updates existing ones if duplicates are detected.
- Step 4: Monitor and Enrich in Attio; Close the Loop with Outreach Logs. Once synced, your team manages these prospects in Attio's interface—adding notes, changing pipeline stage, and assigning owners. When you send outreach via MentionFox or another tool, log the activity in Attio (or set up a two-way sync if using MentionFox Outreach Automation). Attio's timeline view shows the full prospect history: discovery mention, sync date, outreach date, and response status. Use Attio's reporting to measure pipeline velocity and ROI.
Without MentionFox
Without MentionFox, your team manually searches social platforms, forums, and news sites for prospect mentions—a time-intensive process prone to gaps. You manually copy prospect details into Attio, cross-reference company and title information from LinkedIn, and risk duplicating records. Outreach decisions rely on incomplete intelligence, leading to lower response rates and longer sales cycles.
