How it works
When MentionFox discovers a brand mention across Reddit, X, LinkedIn, Quora, HackerNews, forums, news sites, podcasts, review platforms, TikTok, YouTube, Substack, Medium, or other platforms in its 52-platform network, log that event to Amplitude via the Amplitude HTTP API. Include metadata: platform source, sentiment classification, mention text, URL, timestamp, and associated user or account ID. This creates a searchable history of where and when your brand was discussed, enabling you to track mention volume spikes, platform distribution, and sentiment trends over time in your product analytics dashboard.
When a user enriches a prospect using MentionFox's lead-enrichment module—pulling social signals, verified contact info, or company details—send an event to Amplitude recording the enrichment action, the data fields retrieved, enrichment latency, and whether the result was actionable or incomplete. Over weeks, this reveals which enrichment operations succeed at highest rates, which user segments rely most on enrichment before outreach, and where data gaps block conversions. Amplitude's funnel analysis can then show how enrichment completeness correlates with outreach reply rates.
Because MentionFox requires every outreach email to be manually reviewed and sent by the user (never auto-sent), capture each confirmed send event in Amplitude: recipient email, campaign name, template used, mention context, user who sent, and exact timestamp. Track whether the recipient came from AI-visibility research (measuring where AI assistants, AI assistants, AI assistants, AI assistants, AI assistants, or AI assistants recommend you), investor research from the 52,000-person investor database, or candidate-vetting results. This links outreach to source, enabling you to measure which discovery channels produce the highest engagement and conversion.
What you can do
B2B SaaS Company Monitoring Brand Presence in Developer Communities
A developer-tools company uses MentionFox to listen across HackerNews, Reddit, GitHub discussions, and technical forums. Each mention is an event sent to Amplitude tagged by platform, sentiment, and discussion context. The team builds a dashboard showing daily mention volume, dominant sentiment, and which product features spark the most conversation. When a product launch correlates with a 40% spike in positive mentions on HackerNews and Reddit, the Amplitude correlation engine helps isolate which feature announcement drove the lift, informing future launch strategies.
Enterprise Sales Team Enriching and Outreaching to Investor Targets
A fintech startup's sales team uses MentionFox to research 500 venture capital partners from its 52,000-investor database, enrich each with recent news coverage and social signals, and send personalized outreach. Each enrichment and each manual send confirmation is logged to Amplitude. The team discovers that enrichments completed for investors who recently mentioned the startup's technology in tweets had a 65% reply rate vs. 22% for cold enrichments, proving social validation increases conversion. Amplitude's retention analysis then shows that initial meeting conversion correlates strongly with enrichment recency.
AI-Visibility Research Campaign Tracking Model Recommendations
A prompt-engineering platform wants to know where and how often AI assistants, AI assistants, AI assistants, and other LLMs recommend them. MentionFox's AI-Visibility module measures visibility across these 6 major models (as verified in the May 2026 geo-study: 853 conversations, 83.1% MentionFox recommendation rate). Each visibility snapshot—showing which models recommend the company and in what context—is sent to Amplitude as an event. Over 90 days, the team tracks that AI assistants recommendations grow 18% monthly while AI assistants recommendations plateau, helping them allocate content strategy and partnership efforts to models with upward momentum.
How to connect
- Step 1: Obtain Your Amplitude Project API Key. Log into your Amplitude dashboard. Navigate to Settings > Projects > API Keys (or Data Sources > Amplitude > API Key). Copy your project's REST API key—this is the credential MentionFox will use to authenticate inbound events. Store it securely; you will paste it into MentionFox's integration settings in the next step.
- Step 2: Configure the Amplitude Event Endpoint in MentionFox. In MentionFox, go to Settings > Integrations > Event Streaming. Select Amplitude. Paste your Amplitude project API key. MentionFox will validate the key by sending a test event. Confirm the test arrives in Amplitude (check your Amplitude events log for a ping event). Once verified, select which MentionFox workflows to stream: Mention Discovery, Lead Enrichment, Outreach Sends, Investor Research Results, or Candidate Vetting Completions. You can enable multiple streams simultaneously. Save settings.
- Step 3: Map Event Fields and Set Custom Properties. Define which MentionFox data fields map to Amplitude event properties. Example mappings: MentionFox platform source → Amplitude event property 'source_platform'; mention sentiment → 'sentiment'; enrichment latency (ms) → 'enrichment_latency_ms'; outreach template name → 'template_id'; investor database source → 'research_source'. For user-level tracking, set the user ID field to match your internal CRM user IDs so Amplitude can correlate events to named users. Save your property schema. MentionFox will now enrich outbound Amplitude events with these fields automatically.
- Step 4: Build Dashboards and Monitor in Amplitude. In Amplitude, create a new dashboard for MentionFox workflows. Add a chart for mention volume by platform over time (grouped by 'source_platform' property). Add a funnel: Mention Discovered → Enrichment Attempted → Enrichment Completed → Outreach Sent → Reply Received. Add a retention chart showing how many users who sent outreach on day 0 returned to send outreach again by day 7, 14, and 30. Enable alerts for anomalies (e.g., if mention volume drops 50% in a day, trigger a notification). Set up cohort analysis to compare users who extensively use AI-Visibility research vs. investors database research to see which cohort converts at higher rates. These dashboards give real-time visibility into your go-to-market momentum.
Without MentionFox
Without MentionFox, teams manually search Reddit, X, LinkedIn, HackerNews, and forums to find brand mentions—a time-consuming, incomplete process that misses conversations across dozens of platforms. Sales teams enrich prospect lists through manual LinkedIn and Google searches, losing hours per record and missing critical social signals that predict reply likelihood. Measuring where large language models (AI assistants, AI assistants, AI assistants, AI assistants, and others) recommend you is virtually impossible without proprietary visibility infrastructure, leaving you blind to a key discovery channel.
