Filtering Mentions
A busy brand can generate hundreds of mentions per week. Filters let you cut through the noise and focus on the conversations that actually drive revenue or require attention.
Platform Filter
MentionFox scans 50+ platforms. Use the platform filter to isolate mentions from a single source:
- Reddit -- ideal for finding buying-intent threads and product comparison discussions.
- Quora -- long-form Q&A where recommendation answers have a long shelf life.
- Twitter/X -- fast-moving; best for real-time brand monitoring and crisis detection.
- Review sites (G2, Capterra, TrustRadius) -- high-intent prospects actively evaluating tools.
- News -- press coverage, industry analysis, competitor announcements.
- Forums -- niche communities where domain experts congregate.
Sentiment Filter
Click Positive, Neutral, or Negative to show only mentions matching that sentiment. Common use cases:
- Negative only -- surface complaints before they escalate. Great for customer success teams.
- Positive only -- find testimonials, social proof, and potential case study subjects.
- Neutral -- research-stage conversations where buyers are still comparing options.
Date Range
Use the date picker to narrow results to a specific time window. This is useful for:
- Measuring mention volume before and after a product launch or campaign.
- Focusing on fresh mentions that are still worth responding to (conversations older than a week are usually stale).
- Building weekly or monthly reports for clients.
Relevance Threshold
Drag the relevance slider to set a minimum score. Mentions below that threshold are hidden.
Tip: Set relevance to 70+ when prospecting for leads. Set it to 30+ when doing broad market research or competitive analysis -- you want the full picture even if some mentions are tangential.
Combining Filters
Filters stack. You can show only "Reddit + Negative + Last 7 days + Relevance 80+" to find urgent complaints on Reddit this week. The mention count updates in real time as you adjust filters.
Saving Filter Presets
If you use the same filter combination regularly, save it as a preset. Click the bookmark icon next to the filter bar. Presets appear as quick-access tabs above your mention feed so you can switch views in one click.
