MentionFox

Run Your First Scan

A scan is how MentionFox searches the internet for mentions of your client or brand. Each scan targets specific platforms with specific keywords and returns matching posts, comments, reviews, and articles.

Launching a scan

  1. Navigate to a client's War Room from the sidebar.
  2. Click the Scans tab, then New Scan.
  3. Select the platforms you want to search (Reddit, Quora, Twitter, news, etc.).
  4. Enter or confirm your search query. MentionFox pre-fills the client's brand name, but you can customize with operators like quotes for exact match or -keyword to exclude terms.
  5. Click Run Scan. Results begin appearing within seconds.

Understanding results

Each scan result (mention) shows the platform, author, post text, date, and a link to the original. MentionFox also assigns a sentiment score (positive, neutral, or negative) and flags mentions that contain buying intent or complaints, which are prime lead opportunities.

What to do with results

From the mentions list, you can take several actions. Click a mention to expand the full thread. Use Create Lead to push a promising mention into your Dealflow pipeline. Click the author name to view or enrich their profile. If a mention is irrelevant, mark it as dismissed so it does not appear in future reports.

Tip: Your first scan might return noise. Refine your query using search operators (see the Search Operators guide) and exclude common false positives. Each scan gets better as you tune your keywords.
