Each client in MentionFox has configurable monitoring parameters that control which platforms are scanned, how often, and what triggers alerts. Fine-tuning these settings ensures you capture relevant mentions without burning through credits on noise.
MentionFox supports 50+ platforms organized into categories: social media (Reddit, X/Twitter, LinkedIn), Q&A forums (Quora, Stack Overflow), review sites (G2, Capterra, Trustpilot, Yelp), video (YouTube), news, blogs, and general web forums. Select only the platforms relevant to your client's industry. A B2B SaaS company benefits most from Reddit, Hacker News, G2, and LinkedIn. A consumer brand should prioritize Twitter, YouTube, and review sites.
Set how frequently MentionFox runs automatic scans for each client. Options include every 6 hours, every 12 hours, daily, or weekly. Frequent scanning catches mentions faster but uses more credits. For most clients, daily scanning strikes a good balance. High-priority clients or crisis situations may warrant every-6-hour scanning.
The Auto-scan toggle in Client Scan Settings enables or disables scheduled scanning. When enabled, MentionFox's cron system (run-auto-scan) will execute scans for this client on the configured schedule. When disabled, scans only run when manually triggered. You can toggle this on and off at any time without losing your schedule configuration.
Each scan consumes credits based on the number of platforms searched and results returned. Monitor your credit usage from the Billing page. If credits are running low, reduce scan frequency or narrow your platform selection for lower-priority clients. MentionFox deducts credits at scan time and shows remaining balance in the dashboard header.
